(Please note: online registration will be available and active throughout the convergence, but please register sooner than later if possible.) Read the Final Info Packet for the convergence! (posted 10/18/2019) On Sunday, October 20, People's Music Network is hosting a full day Fall Convergence in Manhattan at The People's Forum -- 320 West 37th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues) New York, NY 10018. The event features educational and participatory workshops and song swaps during the first half of the day and an open mic for social justice during the second half. Our goal is to strengthen networks of musicians and poets in the NYC area who use their craft to support movements for justice and liberation. The day-long event includes community building activities such as an opening ceremony, shared meals for lunch and dinner, a sales table, and built-in networking time. Come join in with this community building process! PMN will also be holding a 3 day gathering in NYC from January 24-26, 2020 in East Harlem, which will have a region-wide focus. The October 20 gathering enthusiastically welcomes artists from outside NYC, but will focus on NYC organizations. The PMN/NYC Organizing Committee recognizes the urgency of the political moment we're in right now with rising seas, threats of war, race hatred, economic inequality, and walls (both physical and figurative) that shut regular people out from inclusion in society. This is a time for activist music makers to get serious about how our craft supports the social movements for justice and liberation that we're part of. We're planning a workshop program in which all break out sessions will do two things:
Lunch and dinner will be provided by Khao'na Kitchen. The price of meals is included in registration.
9:00 AM: Registration Opens – enjoy coffee and browse the sales table This workshop grid reflect the primary workshop facilitators. Additional workshop participants will be added to this:
