The People's Music Network Summer Gathering takes place in Groton, MA from May 26-28, 2023. All day on Saturday, May 27, PMN will be using Zoom to livestream one of the workshop tracks: "Black Singing Traditions in Social Justice Music."
The livestream will continue late into the evening with the Round Robin Collaborative Concert in which participants from the whole gathering will share their music. Recordings of all these sessions will be made available to PMN Members in the week following the Gathering.
Here is the Summary of the sessions to be livestreamed:
11:10 AM-12:30 PM (ET): Understanding the African American Spirituals - Jane Sapp, DuPree, Luci Murphy, Lindsey Wilson, Walter Cooper, Jenny Bonham-Carter
2:00 PM-3:20 PM (ET): Learning Gospel Songs of the Black Church & Freedom Songs with a Gospel Sound - Jane Sapp, Michael Carter
3:40 PM-4:40 PM (ET): Struggle & Faith in African American Music - Jane Sapp, DuPree, Luci Murphy, Lindsey Wilson, Walter Cooper, Jenny Bonham-Carter
7:15 PM-Midnight: ROUND ROBIN COLLABORATIVE CONCERT!!!
