For over 40 years, Charlie King has been a central part of the holidays at Haley House in Boston, MA. Every year this event draws a big crowd that gathers to sing together in our South End soup kitchen or at our Roxbury cafe. This year, the gathering will be virtual, but we will still all be singing along! We hope you can join in the singing this year with Charlie and Elise.
The People’s Music Network and Haley House are co-sponsoring this concert featuring Elise Bryant and Charlie King. We sing to support the ongoing work to provide healthy food, affordable housing and meaningful jobs for those who need it most.
After the Livestream Ends, all registrants are invited to a Zoom After Party with the artists.
PERFORMERS:
Elise Bryant serves as the executive director of the Labor Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization that is the “art and soul of the labor movement.” Elise is a lifetime member of the Wobblies (Industrial Workers of the World), a member of the AFM Local 1000 and Vice President of CWA/Newspaper Guild Local 32035.
ORGANIZATIONAL BENEFICIARIES:
The People’s Music Network sustains and grows a diverse community of performing artists, activists, and allies who use music, poetry, and other art forms as catalysts for a just and peaceful world. During the pandemic, the community has moved from organizing regional weekend gatherings to regular online song swaps and workshops.
Haley House uses food with purpose and the power of community to break down barriers between people, empower individuals, and strengthen neighborhoods. We believe in radical solutions: solving problems at their root by challenging attitudes that perpetuate suffering and building alternative models. We have done this work since 1966, never abandoning our deep roots as a house of hospitality in Boston’s South End.
This concert is supported by The Musician's Performance Trust Fund.
