The Virtual Fall Mini-Convergence of the People's Music Network for Songs of Freedom and Struggle -- on Saturday, October 16 -- is a space to explore the creative and political dimensions of music. Wherever you're at in making music to expand social consciousness and struggle for justice, you will find inspiration, new perspectives and skills, as well as opportunities to share with a supportive community about the music you are making.
It takes place in a series of Zoom Rooms, led by experienced facilitators. Attendees may also sign up for a performance slot in the Round Robin, and reconnect with others during the built-in social times. This one day event is a more condensed version of the regular weekend long events PMN hosts in January and June. We expect the conversations started here to reverberate in future gatherings.
Our opening plenary session invites our creative community to consider what forms of musical expression our communities really need to hear right now to sustain organizing for justice under conditions that are challenging in unprecedented ways. Our workshops address different aspects of skill involved in creating music that connects with communities, particularly around issues of justice and peace.
